
Chilli Honey Chicken Burger

A mouth watering combination of savoury, sweet, and spicy flavour, this burger is a must-try recipe.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken thighs
- 4 burger buns
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tbsp onion powder
- 1/2 tbsp paprika
- salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp seeded mustard
- 2 cups buttermilk
- bippi italian chilli honey
- 1 bag coleslaw salad mix
- 1/4 cup kewpie mayo
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- burger pickles
- 5 cups vegetable oil
Instructions
- in a large bowl, Mix together buttermilk and seeded mustard with a pinch of salt and pepper, then submerge the chicken thighs in the buttermilk mixture. cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- make the slaw while you wait - combine mayo, red wine vinegar, and lime juice in a small bowl and mix well. season with salt and pepper to taste, then dress coleslaw salad mix.
- before you bring your chicken out of the fridge, in another bowl combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper then place flour mixture into large zip-lock bag.
- remove chicken from buttermilk mixture and place in bag with flour.
- seal bag tightly and shake to coat chicken in the flour mixture.
- in a pot, heat vegetable oil - you can test if it’s hot enough by dripping a small amount of the chicken batter into the oil. if it bubbles, then the oil is hot enough.
- deep fry chicken in oil until golden and crispy (around 12-15 minutes).
- place chicken in a tray and coat with as much bippi italian chilli honey as your heart desires (we recommend using enough to make the chicken pieces glossy and shiny).
- toast buns in oven at 180 degrees celsius for 2-3 minutes.
- assemble burger with bun, coleslaw, chicken, burger pickles, and an extra drizzle of chilli honey and enjoy!
